Today was my one full day off from work and I decided to put it to good use. I was completely on my own this time as the father was slaving away in work, meaning I had to get my skates on if I wanted to get the second coat done. I only had one tin of paint left so the pressure was on to see how far I could make it go.
I have to say I was pretty impressed with my painting skills. Without the dadinator there, I was able to form a system (he has a bit of a slap dash technique which sets the OCD side of me twitching). I liked my little stripe system and it served me well, second coat done and dusted, I even started on the third coat!
If I hadn't run out of paint at about 3pm I reckon I could have got it completely finished (or at least very nearly finished). I did manage to persuade my dad to go on a late night paint run, so that I had a tin for the next day ready to finish the job.
After checking out the second coat I think one more coat and the walls will be finito! I then just have to paint the skirting boards, which is going to be a task and a half. I can't take the carpet up so I have to figure out a way to paint them without getting paint on the carpet, any suggestions?
The actual room will be completely decorated by Friday, which is lovely! I then just need to paint my bed white as it doesn't really fit with the other furniture, it's a darker wood and stands out a bit. Once that is done I can start buying bits and bobs to jazz it up a little, woo hoo! I love homeware shopping!
Oooohh this is so exciting. Can't wait until I get the chance to do this to a room I'm in!
