Prepare For The Apocolips!

I've had the Rimmel Apocolips Lip Lacquers for a while, hiding away at the back of my makeup draw. I will start by saying, they are definitely a love/hate product for me.

I love the packaging, it's so sleek and stylish and has an 'asteroid hurtling towards the unsuspecting earth' look about it, matching it's world ending name. The applicator is a bit hit and miss though. On the one hand I love the size and shape of the doe foot, it fits perfectly against my lips. However it does have this rather annoying little well in the center of it. I'm not 100% sure of the purpose of the well, it seems to just collect excess product, making it harder to apply.

The shade range isn't fantastic either, they have pretty basic shades, but they are releasing more shades in the Fall/Autumn. I have the shades Stellar, Big Bang and Luna, a mixture of vibrant and neutral. The pigmentation of these is AMAZING! These are a cross between a lipstick and a lipgloss, I like to say that they're a nail polish for your lips, only without the drying part.

Now for the final crunch. I love how pigmented and rich the colours are, they are so vibrant and look amazing on. However (and this is a big however) they are super duper hard to apply. I've spent so much time taking it off and re-applying to get a nice even application, which is a pain because these stain like you wouldn't believe. They also don't set, which is a big no no. You are constantly worrying whether your lip lacquer has smudged all over your face and that is a complete pain in the rear end.

So yes they look beautiful once you've managed to actually apply them evenly, but they will end up all over your face throughout the day. The more neutral shades like Luna are no problem! But I now own two gorgeous lip products that I'm scared to wear out of the house, not ideal.

Have you tried the Rimmel Apocolips Lip Lacquers? What do you think of them?

  1. I agree with this! I love how pigmented they are and they look really nice, but I'm always worrying that my hair has caught in it and smudged it all over my face. I also find they just get all over your teeth, and are really hard to apply. I do like the colours though. I just wish they would dry!

    1. I love Big Bang, it's what I'm wearing on my profile pic but it just smudges so much! :( And thank you! I'm so indecisive when it comes to blog layouts haha x

  4. I tried on of them on my arm when I was on holiday. BIG mistake, I was asked the whole day if someone had hit me because my skin looked so bruised. But I think I'll give them a try nonetheless, I'm just too curious and I guess for things like going out or something they're probably pretty decent with their staying power.
I really like your blog, new follower!

    1. Thank you for following! Yeh they are really pretty when you put them on. I think if you put a really really thin layer on they would be fine.
