When I moved into my new flat for my final year of University, I had to come up with a brand new way to store all my makeup. I've got plenty of shelf space, but my issue was that I didn't have anything to actually store my makeup in. I transported everything in my mesh Muji bags which is fine if you move a lot, but not so great when it comes to finding specific products!
I managed to get a set of acrylic draws from Ryman's in Cardiff, I also got another acrylic desk storage thing which has pencil pots and draws in it, very handy for storing eyeliner and other makup type objects.
Everything is stored on my shelf next to my bed, simply because all my other shelves take a mountain climbing expedition to get to them. I brought about 80% of my collection with me and everything pretty much fits in to the storage nicely, even though I would like the draws to be a bit bigger, as they're not ideal for storing blush.
In the bottom draw of the my acrylic draws are my Maybelline Color Tattoos and a mini Bourjois pigment, they fit pretty nicely in here!
Then in the next two draws are some of my blushes, the round blushes don't really fit very well in the small draws. My MAC blushes wouldn't fit in these at all!
On top of my little draws I have my Urban Decay Glinda palette, an empty MAC quad and my perfume. This is a pretty handy way of keeping them because they're easy to grab when running out the door and I need to smell good.
Sat happily next to the draws is my lipstick stand. This may have been the best purchase ever! Lipsticks are so hard to store because they're round and they always look so messy when you store them. This keeps them all neat and tidy and lets me see what lipsticks I actually own.
Then we have a pen pot that I got in the sale at WHSmith's. I'm not crazy about the blue colour but they're really handy and I love the pattern on them. I have two more of these that hold my makeup brushes, but they're in my bathroom.
We then move over to my acrylic desk storage, this is home to a mixed collection of products, most of which wouldn't fit into the draws. I also have both of my Naked palettes wedged next to it.
In the front compartments I have my foundations and my MAC blushes and my two highlighters. I would like something a bit more stable for the blushes as they have a tendency to roll off. There's also a sneaky draw underneath the blushes, I've put my single eye shadows in here and the lipgloss that came with my Naked 2 palette. There's not much you can fit in it though as it is the smallest draw in the world.
Behind the foundations we have some random quads and smaller palettes. There's also my Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation.
Behind the MAC blushes and highlighters we have my two MAC palettes, they sit rather nicely in the back compartment.
Do you have a different storage system for when you're at Uni/College? How do you store your makeup?
It looks so lovely and organised, you may have inspired me to have a tidy up and get some storage too!
