This is the last post for Fashion February, boooooo! I've loved having a fashion feature on my blog, making sets on Polyvore is one of my favourite past times and getting challenges every week has been extremely fun.
For our final challenge we were asked to style the kimono, one of my favourite fashion trends. I have two kimonos that I bought a few years ago and have never really worn; they have hung in my wardrobe all this time just looking beautiful and silky. Now they are back on the scene with a vengeance and I have a much better idea on how to style them. The thing I love the most about kimonos is that they are a great investment. If you look back through the fashion archives you may notice that kimonos are around in most decades. Pair with a pyjama playsuit, a long string of pearls and some silk slippers to sport a comfortable 20's/30's style or team with a wide legged jumpsuit and a floppy sun hat to rock the 70's look.
I've gone for the 70's glamour angle, think American Hustle or Boogie Nights. I've chosen the One Teaspoon Crochet Whisper Kimono Cardigan and based my look around its flowing comfy feel, the long line style makes it feel like a laid back addition to any outfit. I teamed it with this gorgeous Lace Insert Halter Neck Jumpsuit by Rare, which has wide legs to keep in with the loose relaxed look. I much prefer wide legs on jumpsuits, I find that my rather chunky legs are not flattered at all by those jumpsuits that are fitted around the ankles. I picture this as a more S/S look, the image of women lounging around a pool in floppy hats and giant sunglasses always pops into my head when I think of summer in the 70's. I've gone with a big Hippie Chick Floppy Hat to keep those sun rays at bay and some beautiful Carvela Kurt Geiger Glide sandals.
To finish off this laid back look, I've gone for this stunning Floral Patchwork Print Mini De Manta Clutch from Alexander McQueen to add a bit of colour. For jewellery I've chosen a pretty, gold Multirow Leaf Necklace, something delicate and light so as to balance out the other pieces.
I would like to end by just saying a massive thank you to Ali from thecutelittlebeautyblog for organising this feature. I've really really enjoyed being a part of it, it's the first time I've ever collaborated with any other bloggers and I've loved every minute of it. x
The jumpsuit is the height of sophistication and style - soooo sleek. Gorgeous! :o) Xx

I'm actually not usually a fan of jumpsuits because I can never find ones to suit my body shape, but I love this one with the lace panels on the side! x
DeleteGreat styling, so classy! I love black jumpsuits. Love the combo kimono + jumpsuit :)
