Fashion February: NUMARI Diagnol Color Block Sheath Dress

This month I am taking part in Fashion February! Each week we are sent a fashion styling challenge and this week we have teamed up with the dress brand NUMARI. They have set us the challenge to dress up their sophisticated Diagonal Color Block Sheath Dress. As it's quite a formal style, and with me being a student, I decided to take the 'outfit for graduation' route. I won't be graduating till July but that doesn't mean I can't plan in advance.

Out of the 4 dresses we could choose from, I went for the black, a bit safe you say? Well I did love the look of the nude dress, but there will be lots of pictures taken on graduation day and nothing slims you down more than a little black number. I love that this has sleeves that cover that awkward little flabby bit at the top of your arm, it always makes me feel more confident as it makes my arms look slimmer.

I've been watching rather a lot of Downton Abbey lately, so the Art Deco style is firmly imprinted into my brain. I decided I wanted to incorporate it into the outfit as I love the 1920's - 1930's style. I went with a simple Diamondis clutch bag by Coast. I love that it's classic, formal but not too flashy, I don't want to be too bling as I collect my diploma. For shoes I went for a nude Carvela Alas court with a low heel, comfort first, I'll be wearing these practically all day and I also don't want to fall on my face trying to walk in 6 inch heels. For jewellery I have strayed away from my much loved silver and gone for a bit of gold. Keeping with the flapper theme I chose this gorgeous gold Snakechain Multirow necklace, I much prefer long necklaces and think this adds a bit of subtle glamour. Trying to keep it minimal, I chose an Art Deco style ruby ring to add a splash of colour. I also added a coat to the outfit, I'll be wearing the obligatory cap and gown for the most part but I will be going out for a family knees up afterwards and it is cold in Cardiff. This Topshop Double Breasted Camel coat is in the currently on trend boyfriend style, it looks super warm and I like the masculine edge it brings to a very feminine outfit.

This is a really classic style and it is perfect for any formal occasions you might have coming up. It's definitely got me thinking about graduation, you have to get the right level of comfort and formality and I think this outfit definitely has the right balance.

  1. Love the clutch; anything by Coast lasts for years. Good choice with the heels, I also struggle with heels that are too high and nude in colour as well so they'll go with anything,
