Since, what I'm calling the battle of Le Easter Chocolat, where I was beaten hands down by the mountain of Easter eggs I ate, I've been on a major health kick. I've fully embraced the veggie life and started having green smoothies for breakfast. If you are a green smoothie newbie like me, you will probably look at the ingredients of the smoothies and recoil in disgust at the thought of drinking vegetables. Do not fear green-smooth-o-phobes, they actually can be rather tasty.
This recipe is based on the Blogilates Metabolic Supercharge Smoothie, only I've had to improvise a little (or a lot!) with the ingredients. If you would like to join me in the green smoothie loving fan club, here is how you make this delicious smoothie!
Ingrediants:
1 Banana
1/4 Cucumber (makes it really refreshing)
A tiny slice of fresh ginger (not too much or it'll burn like a mutha XD)
Two big handfuls of baby spinach or kale (depending on what you can get in your local supermarket)
1 Tbsp of Greek Yogurt (can be fat free)
150ml (approx 1 cup) Almond Milk (original or unsweetened)
1 Tbsp Honey
4 Cubes of ice
Method:
Whack it in a blender and whizz to your hearts content!
That's it! It's super easy, delicious and keeps you full until lunch time. That was one of my main concerns with just having a smoothie for breakfast, I was worried that it wouldn't be enough to last me but boy was I wrong.
Have you tried any delicious green smoothie recipes that you would like to share? Are you put off by the veggies or dodgy green colour?
I'm a bit wary of green smoothies, I usually find if I just pop in banana and spinach it's a bit tasteless! I'll have to try adding in some honey or agave :)

I do love honey in my smoothies but also try spices like cinnamon (I'm allergic so I stay away haha) or nutmeg, I love a chunk of fresh ginger in mine :) x
DeleteThis looks awesome! I love green smoothies & I love seeing people's takes on them!

Thanks, I was surprised how tasty they actually were! x
DeleteMight try this! Minus the honey and ginger cause I'm allergic. Must admit I'm a bit wary of green smoothies, does it taste green? If you know what I mean! x
ReplyDeleteI've just bought myself a blender so I'll be giving this a go ASAP ;) x
ReplyDeleteI love green smoothies. This sounds delicious
