Handbag Essentials

I am most definitely a handbag hoarder, I keep way too much crap in my medium sized bag. However, amongst the various crumpled receipts, old gum wrappers and a cheque book I've never ever used, there are the odd few handbag staples that stay the same.

As I live in the unpredictable land of weather that is the UK, I have to make sure that I have a good solid umbrella for those showery occasions. I've recently replaced my battered pound shop umbrella for something a little jazzier. This cool dude is a Buddhist Monk style brolly that I got from a shop called Pylones in Chester, formally named Octopus. They sell really cool, quirky Homeware like rice bowls, tea towels, dish scrubbers and much much more. I did have a purple doll one a few years ago, but alas, her head may have popped off.

Then we have the not so pretty and exciting essentials. First up is a good old bottle of water, I try and keep one in my bag at all times in case I feel anxious in a situation. It always makes me feel better to know I have water to hand. Then there's the beauty trinity, body spray (nothing worse than feeling like you smell) a tube of L'Occitane hand cream and some Carex lip balm. I can not stand it if I have dry, scaly hands, the feeling goes through me like chalk on a chalk board. The L'Occitane hand cream is one of the best around and I got mine as a freebie in a magazine! Bargain. I also have very dry lips so I like to keep some sort of lip balm in my bag. I do prefer the tubs rather than the tubes, but my nails are so long these days I find them a little hard to use.

Finally, we have the tool everyone should have, a pen. At any one time I can have 5-6 pens in my bag and usually 4-5 aren't actually working. You never know when you might need a pen and you usually find that you need one most when you don't have one.

Picking my essentials has really made me re-evaluate what I carry in my bag, I obviously need my purse as well, but I think I could really do without the piles of receipts. I'm pretty sure I have a good few pairs of 3D glasses in there as well, but sometimes I just like the mystery of a messy bag.

  4. I love that little shop in Chester, it's full of stuff I would never actually need but instantly want as soon as I see it. I too always have a good hand cream and lip balm in my bag. I'm a bit of a balm collector, there's about 3 in each bag haha!

  6. Water, hand cream and lip balm are my handbag essentials as well! I like to keep a compartment in my bag separate for all the little things so they don't get lost or mixed up!

My filofax and iPhone charging case are the other two things I can't leave the house without!

  8. I love these essentials! A bottle of water is always a must for me, as is a pen. I'm such a nightmare for forgetting things, and yet my bag is always overpacked with stuff I don't need haha
