Key Pieces For Your Minimalist Wardrobe

I've been searching high and low for the style of fashion that I always gravitate towards, whenever I'm looking at outfit posts on Tumblr or We Heart It. Then a few days ago during a Twitter chat it suddenly dawned on me, minimalist! Since discovering this I've been obsessed with finding minimalist fashion blogs and images to inspire me. I thought I'd throw together a little collection of pieces that could be the beginnings of a succesful minimalist wardrobe.

These pieces are so diverse and can be mixed and matched to suit any occasion. I already have a fair few of these items so I'm on my way. This is a sort of shopping list for me now, I'm going to use this as inspiration to re vamp my wardrobe. I'm one of those people who collect clothes that don't really go together but look very pretty on their own. Now I can finally get a wardrobe I can be happy with (if that's even possible) and one that I can wear and feel completely comfortable in.

What's your style? Do you prefer the less is more or are you more of a more is more person? (there's a lot of 'mores' in that sentence, I apologise)

February Favourites

It is that time again, that time of the month (no not that one) where I shower you with all the lovely products that have been serving me well throughout February. In the past I've dabbled with beauty favourites, non-beauty favourites and also just one big giant video of favourites. This month I wanted to go back to the old days and do a beauty and non-beauty video, it's a lot easier to film and a lot quicker to edit.

This month has been a month of rediscovery. The Lee Stafford Treatment Mask for example is an old and firm favourite, back where it belongs on my teeny tiny shower shelf. Then we have the Simple Rich Moisturiser, which came to my rescue when new ventures failed me. This little face moisturiser came in and made sure my face had all the moisture it needed throughout the day, despite it's travel size. Another product that crawled out of my cluttered collection was the Soap & Glory Glow All Out highlighter. It usually sits longingly on my acrylic desk storage waiting to be used, but this month it made the makeup bag cut and proved itself as a nice subtle highlighter, well done little guy. My final rediscovery was the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I have two of these, the twins of my makeup brush collection, but this month I discovered a new and effective way to use it. It may have taken me longer than it should have to realise that this brush is extremely versatile. I like to use it flat against my face for buffing in foundation, but the other way to use this is to blend out concealer using only the side of the brush, it blends everything together without moving the coverage!

Next we have the new guys, they may be newbies but they have certainly proven themselves. After running out of my beloved L'Oreal Micellar Water I decided to take a gamble and try the newly released Garnier Micellar Water, I was not disappointed. Not only do you get tons more product, but it does just a good a job of removing all of my makeup. Last but by no means least we have the Revlon Chroma Chameleon Nail Polish in Pink Quartz. This shade was so beautiful I couldn't let it stay in the shop, a beautiful gold with a pink shimmer. Not to mention it has amazing staying power, after over a week it is only just starting to chip and that's with no topcoat!

Overall it's been a pretty successful month for beauty; let's hope next month I have just as many products to praise. Remember to check back next week where I'll be telling you all about my non-beauty favourites of February.

Morning Skincare Routine

Over the past year I've been trying out a lot of skincare products to find products that really work for me. It's extremely hard seeing as I have some trust issues when it comes to skincare. I always have that fear that when I buy a new face wash, it's going to make my face explode and I'm going to look like I've been in a fight with Stallone. I have had the pleasure of this in the past with a Garnier moisturiser, it wasn't pretty.

After a bit of experimenting I have figured out what types of products work for my skin. I have oily/combination, sensitive skin and I'm prone to a lot of breakouts. I like to use cleansing milks for my morning cleanse, I find them gentler on sensitive skin and this one from Clarins really controls my oil throughout the day. I like to wash this off with a muslin cloth as it's a bit gentler than a normal face cloth. I then like to follow it up with a splash of Bioderma to make sure I've got all the cleansing milk off, I like to use the giant cotton pads from Boots as they make it super quick to do the whole face. I then finish off with my Simple Rich Moisturiser, this is really gentle on sensitive skin which is ideal for me. I will say now that winter is coming, I may have to look for something a little more moisturising, as my skin gets really dry.

What products do you love for waking up in the morning?
