So as you know I’ve been searching for a
new foundation and I’m still looking! I’ve tried a good few so far and so I
thought I should do a review on one of the more popular products, the Diorskin
Nude foundation in Ivory.
Here’s what DIOR says about this foundation:
• All skin types
• Sheer Coverage
• Natural Finish
• Hydrating
£10.33 per 10ml
Factor 15 SPF
I’d been in and out of the department
stores trying this out on my hand, getting the feel and coverage of it and
finally I decided to go and get colour matched and grab a sample from the
counter in Boots in the Trafford Centre.
When I got home I found that the colour
looked slightly too dark for me, despite being the lightest shade in the range.
However I didn’t know whether this was because of the amount of bronzer she had
put on me, which most counter lady’s do to “warm up” my skin tone :/ So I kept
an open mind and the next day I put it on in the morning to give it a good test
out. Safe to say it was definitely the bronzer, Ivory is a perfect match for my skin tone.
I do love the lightness of this foundation;
it’s not as light as the YSL Touché éclat foundation but isn’t as heavy as the
MAC Matchmaster. It feels so comfy to wear and makes me forget I’m even
wearing a foundation!
I would say this foundation gives a light
to medium coverage depending on how you apply it, if I’m going on a night out I
tend to use this with a foundation brush to give me more coverage and then in
the day I just use my fingers to blend it in. It is buildable but only to a
certain degree, I put 2 layers on my cheeks where I have the most redness and
it did cover it slightly better. If you did want
to put another layer on I would say that because of how light the product is I
cant see there being any problems with caking.
Before
After
In the specifications it claims to be a sheer coverage which I can't argue with. It still has a slight sheen to it but just enough to give you a natural skin look, not an oil slick look. It is definitely a natural finish and out of all of the foundations I have tried it is the only one that claims to look like skin and actually does look like skin.
I have oily/combination skin and this works
wonderfully with my skin. Unlike when I tried YSL Touché éclat, I wore this all
day and did not have any over oily areas and it lasted really well on my entire
face and that was without setting it with powder. I usually have a very oily
t-zone but you would never even notice it with this foundation. I can see how
it would work with all skin types as it is hydrating (for dry/combination skin
types) but because it isn't massively 'glowy' it works on oily skins just as well.
My only problem with this is the shade range. If you have very pale, pretty much white complexion, the lightest ivory shade will be too dark for you. Also It's a bit disappointing in the darker skin tone department.
Overall I do love this foundation, the coverage is perfect and I love the slightly dewy finish.
It’s beautifully light and really does live up to the “your skin only
better”
label of most high-end foundations. Plus it has excellent longevity, on
me
anyway, and with powder it can last pretty much all day.
Diorskin Nude is available at all department
stores with a Dior counter and is priced at £32. I would definitely recommend going
to get colour matched and getting a sample before you buy especially if your on
the very pale side or very dark side.
This looks so good - I love how it allows your freckles to show through the foundation. I hate my freckles being covered.
