Chanel's Le Volume De Chanel Mascara Review

Recently I was lucky enough to grab myself a sample of the brand new Chanel mascara, Le Volume De Chanel.

I’m always a bit skeptical when it comes to higher end mascaras, I usually find that you can find equally as good mascaras in drugstores or on the high-street. I also didn’t think I’d like this because I’m just not a massive fan of volumising mascaras.

So the packaging of the sample is pretty much just a miniature replica of the full size packaging. Chanel packaging is always very simple and classic looking. This is no different. The tube is plain black with simple white writing, no more, no less. I do like the packaging although it does look a bit bland mixed in with the other mascaras in my collection.

The wand did worry me slightly when I first checked it out. It is a plastic brush with very short bristles. The mascara looked a bit clumpy on the brush and I was worried it would layer it on too thickly. You do have to give the brush a good scrape before you use it as it does have a tendency to apply a very thick coat other wise. The wand does coat every lash however, it also makes sure you get good definition, creating a non-clumpy look.

The actual product is very thick. You have to be very careful not to put too much on other wise it will clump like crazy. I like to give the brush a good scrape first, add a layer, then if I feel I need to put more on I will. It’s easier to put more on then take it off.

It is very volumising, one of the most volumising mascaras I have ever used. It is a gorgeous deep rich black colour, which I love! It also gives a good bit of length, giving you thick long lashes. Like I said before, the only slightly negative thing I will say about this is that the product is a little thicker than I would like. You do have to be very careful not to put too much on, or it will go clumpy.

Overall I would say it is an excellent volumising mascara BUT I do feel like for the price it isn’t an absolute HG product, nor the best mascara I’ve ever tried. Plus you have to make sure you curl your lashes before you use it to get the best results. I like it, I just don’t love it.
