When the neon trend for SS13 came to light,
I was extremely skeptical. Neon colours scare me, they’re bold and eye catching
and for someone who likes to go about unnoticed, highly impractical.
I don’t know what happened inside my brain
in the last week or so, but it has suddenly decided that this neon trend is the
perfect trend for me. I’ve been obsessed with the bright neon greens, oranges
and pinks lately. I went on a massive shopping spree very recently and decided
to stock up on some summer items. The majority of which are bright neon
colours.
I thought I would show you a couple of my
favourite pieces I’ve seen knocking about in the high street, and also let you
look at one or two of the pieces I’ve bought of late.
So lets start with the clothing items. I
recently bought a neon pink, oversized tee from River Island, which I
absolutely love! However it must have sold out online because I couldn’t find a
picture of it anywhere and I haven’t had time to take a picture. But to be
honest it’s just a plain neon pink t-shirt, nothing fancy.
There are so many skirts and shirts around
that you can get to inject a bit of neon into your wardrobe. I love the neon
lime colour and there are so many skits available ranging from skater to mini.
They are perfect for everyday and night time, depending on what you pair it
with. Both of these skirts are available from www.riverisland.com
Topshop is one of the major places to visit
if you are looking for neon. They are currently doing a range of simple vest
tees in neon’s, perfect if we ever get any very hot weather.
As some of you might have realized by now,
I love accessories. There are so many scarves, bags and shoes to choose from in
neon brights. I recently bought the neon
lime satchel from Topshop.
This satchel comes in a whole range of
colours to suit everyone. I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it in the shop;
I very nearly bought two because I couldn’t choose between this and the orange
one.
I’ve also seen a few scarves, which are
light enough to wear in the warmer weather. Zara have some gorgeous colours at
the moment, I particularly like the Coral one.
River Island also has a neon lime snood
that I very nearly bought and to be honest probably will in the near future.
Finally, there’s makeup. Mainly nail
polishes. All the nail polish brands tend to bring out summer collections
around the May-June time. The collection I’m most looking forward to however,
is the Barry M Gelly Nail Paint’s summer brights collection. The collection
will be released in Superdrug on the 5th June and Boots on the 12th
June.
Tell me what you think of the neon trend,
love it? Or hate it?
