Fashion February: A Touch Of Tartan

This weeks Fashion February challenge is to style Tartan with the optional accessory of cat eye sunglasses. Tartan is a pretty versatile trend so I've gone for a comfy casual style, something I would definitely wear and easy to throw on in a hurry. As soon as I heard 'cat eye sunglasses' the first thing I thought of was the 1950's, from there I styled my outfit with that in mind. I went for a more Rizzo from Grease than a Sandy and teamed this Topshop Tartan Plaid Tee with a pair of simple, Cropped Button Leggings in black and a deep, forest green cardigan. Something super comfy and great for running errands or a cheeky shopping trip.

With any simple outfit it's important to not go OTT with the accessories. I didn't want to overload on jewellery, which is a nasty habit I need to break, so instead I've gone for a Brown Floral Watch from Miss Selfridge. I teamed that with a bag I am currently lusting over, the Vivienne Westwood Jasmie Bag in black snakeskin. Finally, with the idea of comfort and practicality in mind, I've gone for a classic pair of Monsoon Savannah Patent Loafers then added a pair of Kayla Cat Eye Sunglasses to guard against that harsh winter sun.

If you live in the city or a busy town this outfit will allow you to get up and go, helping you to fight your way through the bustling crowds. It's super easy to throw a coat over if there is a brisk chill in the air but overall it makes a casual chic option for S/S 14'.

  2. AH, I'm absolutely in love with this whole outfit. I suck at styling, so posts like this are awesome! I love it all and I feel like maybe you can go OTT with rings cause they make less of statement than chunky bracelets and necklaces. Love it!
