Missguided Monochrome Wishlist

If there is any trend I am most thankful for it's monochrome. It comes around every year and every season it's a staple to have in your wardrobe, not to mention perfect for any colour-phobes like myself. Whether you like to rock masculine chic or be feminine in florals, monochrome caters for all. With its colour block, floral and geometric variations, you're sure to be able to get involved no matter what your style preferences.

I've been having a good few online window-shopping sessions lately and many a wish list has been made. One of the biggest of those wish lists is my Missguided list, so many beautiful shoes, dresses coats and tops that I had to share some of the monochrome pieces I am now lusting after.

I always find that if you want to sport a dash of floral but you're scared of looking a bit too feminine (maybe the girly girl look isn't for you?) then monochrome florals are a safe bet. Without the bright flowery colours you usually find in floral patterns, the feminine feel is downplayed. You could team this cropped blouse with a leather pencil skirt and some chunky boots to get a more grungier look or even a skater skirt and a pair of slim heels for a more delicate tone.

I have a rather large lower half (a great way to start a sentence I know) but it means that anything other than black or a good pair of jeans to suck me in makes me worry about lumps and bumps being visible. The dogtooth pattern on these skinny trousers however really grabbed my attention. I love the look of these paired with chunky boots or even Doc Martens and the skinny fit style is always flattering. I also love that these are high waisted, which means they flatten that annoying lower belly pooch.

The shift dress is always handy to have in your wardrobe, pair loose with some jeans or leggings for the daytime or add a waist slimming belt and a pair of heels for the evening. This floral daisy print is bang on the 90's trend and what I love the most is the short sleeves that cover the tops of the arms, it's far too cold for me to be flashing a bit of bingo wing.

I usually stay away from high-heeled sandals; I find them hard to walk in and the ankle strap doesn't mesh well with my chunky calves. Lately however, I just love the way they look, especially with a pair of shorts or a midi skirt. These are a nice take on the heeled sandal, usually made in a classic black or white with the odd exception. This black and white contrast pattern makes a plain staple the perfect accessory to spruce up a LBD or a classic work outfit.

A slightly more form fitting shift dress, this has a very gothic feel despite the Aztec pattern. This is most likely because of the crisp white collar and cuffs, harking back to the style of Christina Ricci as Wednesday Adams. I have to say this isn't my usual style, but I love the fit and pattern of the dress and because it isn't something I would usually wear, it makes me want to wear it even more. Does that make sense?

So how do you feel about the monochrome trend? Love it or hate it?
