After nearly 10 years fighting tooth and nail, I've finally been getting the therapy sessions I've needed since I was in my early teens. These sessions have given me a huge amount of knowledge, not just about how I perceive myself, but also what my life goals actually are.
I tend to get a set piece of 'homework' after every session and one of my tasks this weeks was to come up with some goals for the future. I've always had long term goals, get a job, buy a car, live on my own. However, these goals can be a little adventurous and sometimes you just need to re-think and set smaller, more short term goals to keep you going.
It can be hard when you've set yourself one massive big goal, to keep motivated and stay positive on the journey to achieving it. It's good to have life aspirations and to be the best you can be, but what about next week? Or next month or maybe just an hour from now? Sometimes thinking TOO big can make us more lost than we already are.
So this week I have set some time a side to really think about short term goals. I'm definitely an all or nothing kind of person, I want the best right away or I'm miserable. Sitting down and taking one week at a time is really helping me change that mindset and I've noticed a massive improvement in my mood and daily positivity.
Let me know in the comments below what your short term goals are, and if you've ever been in a situation where the 'bigger picture' has actually made you cower and want to stay under the duvet all day.
