Fashion Friday: The Hippy Hippy Shake

After trawling through pages and pages of Coachella fashion this past week I thought I'd throw together a little festival fashion of my own. When it comes to summer time I do like to occasionally sport the hippy boho trend. I love the soft flowy cuts and bright colours and not to mention, boho is one of the most comfortable styles to wear.

Kaftans are always a wardrobe staple in the summer, they are light and perfect for warm weather, plus if your jetting off somewhere nice, they make excellent cover ups for those bikini days. Then there's the shorts, what lovely bright beautiful shorts they are. I'm getting a bit sick of styling everything with the usual denim hotpants, so I thought I'd try and find some bright, vibrant shorts. These are so beautiful and can be worn casually or pair with some heels for an evening look! As for the accessories, well they are pretty self explanatory, lots of beads and flowers, the hippy trend is all about turning yourself into a one man band when it comes to jewellery.

The sunglasses and the bag have to be my favourite pieces in this look, on me personally round glasses are not good, I have a very round face and they really don't compliment giant round moon faces, but they are so beautiful to look at. The bag is so cute, I'm a sucker for novelty shaped bags and this one is perfect for any camera lover.

Will you be lounging in the boho trend this summer? Or do you prefer something less flowy and rustic?

Fashion Friday: Laid-Back Chic

Skirt: River Island Black Sequin Skirt (SOLD OUT)
Necklace: River Island Gold Chunky Necklace (SOLD OUT)

I never know what to wear when I go out, there seems to be less and less options for non girly girls or girls that don't like to show a whole load of skin. This just means we have to get creative. For this outfit I wanted to pair casual with classy, comfort with style to create an outfit that I would feel comfortable wearing.

The grey tee is super comfortable so I then paired it with a sequin embellished skirt to give that comfort, dressed up combo. Then I teamed it with a blazer to tie everything together seeing as blazers can be worn casual or smartly. Because the outfit is very black and grey I wanted to add colour through accessories, which makes this blue glitter clutch a great piece. Then instead of my usual silver jewellery I've gone for a splash of gold just to add another dimension of colour. To top it all off we have a matte red lip, very classy.

Would you wear this outfit? Do you find it hard to know what to wear on a night out these days?

Fashion Friday: Dark Side Of Summer

To celebrate the glimmer of warm weather we had earlier this week and also the joyous fact that Pink Floyd is now available on Spotify, I thought I'd throw together a little spring/summer outfit for you. As I have mentioned countless times, I'm not a girly girl, I try to dabble in florals and skirts as much as possible but I usually find that I don't feel overly comfortable.

This dislike for flowing dresses and bright colours can cause some dilemmas when it comes to the summer months. I also don't get this obsession with having shorts so short they barely cover your bum cheeks. If you are a little on the larger side like myself, it makes finding a decent pair of shorts virtually impossible. I have to say I do like these distressed short from River Island, even if they do still look a little on the short side.

During the awkward transition from winter to spring and then from spring to summer, I find a good sturdy, but not lined, pair of boots is always a good wardrobe staple. I love my Dr Martens and yes they are leather and so can be fairly warm, but they have no fur or fleece lining so they won't cause too much of a problem in warmer climates.

This outift is also perfect if you are lucky enough to be heading to a festival this year, a good band tee and a pair of denim shorts are a classic festival pairing. Team up with some friendship bracelets and you have perfect festival chic.

Have you got tickets to any festivals this year? What do you think about hotpants taking over from shorts? Love or find them extremely annoying?

Fashion Friday: Leather & Lace

You may or may not know that I'm a bit of a Polyvore addict. And if you are completely clueless as to what Polyvore actually is, let me explain. Polyvore is a magical, wonderful website that lets you create rather attractive fashion sets like the one displayed above. You can search through endless sets of high-street fashion to high-end and also home and even beauty sets. The above set is one that I created recently and seeing as fashion also begins with an 'f' (much like the word 'Friday') I wanted to introduce a new Fashion Friday feature!

The above set came about through my inability to style my new faux-leather skirt. Despite the fact that I can't actually afford a fair few of the pieces in this outfit, I love how it's feminine but with a slight rocker feel. I've never been much of a lace and frills kind of girl but I do like to look feminine when I go out. I've teamed a faux-leather skirt to add an edge to the softness of the lace cream top, the skirt is fitted around the waist and the top is oversized crop, so the combination gives the illusion of a smaller waist. The very expensive but very beautiful royal blue pumps add a splash of colour to a monochrome outfit, I am very guilty of not incorporating enough colour into my wardrobe so accessories are where most of my outfits get their colour from. Then I've gone with just a few added extras, nothing to big and garish but I did fall in love with the holographic clutch, which makes a great statement piece.

I wanted to create an outfit that I would be able to wear to student nights in clubs, so it couldn't be too fancy but also couldn't be too casual. I like that I could team the skirt and top with a pair of tights and my Dr Martens and have it still look stylish during the day. When you're a poor student versatile outfits are the only way.
